Working towards a lower-carbon future

At Hemming Group, we believe every business has a responsibility to understand and reduce its environmental impact. Through our Get Zero! programme we are taking practical, measurable steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, cut waste and support our transition to a more sustainable economy.

Progress, not perfection

Creating a more sustainable future is not about having all the answers today. It is about asking better questions, measuring honestly, sharing what we learn and making continuous improvements, year after year. We are committed to doing the work, being transparent about our progress and using our voice to drive positive change across the sectors we serve.

These are Our 2026/7 priorities

5. Working with our suppliers

We are working with our suppliers to better understand and reduce our upstream emissions.

4. Supporting our customers

We work with our customers to encourage and support progress on sustainability, emissions reduction and the avoidance of green washing.

3. Supporting our audiences

We use our platforms, publications and events to share knowledge, encourage discussion and support sustainability progress in our sectors.

2. Provide clear communications

By being transparent and honest about our environmental performance and the actions we are taking to reduce our impact on climate and nature, we can achieve our "Sustainability Value" to balance our triple bottom line of People, Profit and Planet.

1. Strengthening our data

By improving the quality and scope of our environmental data we ensure that future decisions are driven by robust evidence, analysis.

Our environmental mission

To reduce the environmental impact of our business, products and supply chain while helping our customers, audiences and partners make informed, sustainable choices. We are committed to aligning our activities with a 1.5°C future and achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, or sooner wherever possible.

Our Journey

  • 2025

We appointed a dedicated member of staff. This not only allowed us to bring our annual audit in-house but to really understand our data. We continue to use the PPA Action Net Zero Pathway as a guide and their emissions calculator as our auditing tool. We have started work on our emissions reduction projects, and invested in specialist training from Isla for our senior leadership team, our sector heads, our editors and our marketeers.
  • 2024

In order to get the necessary data on our emissions, we worked with the PPA and with Trace by Isla. We then comissioned RI.SE, an expert organisation, to asses the gathered data to create the first of our annual audits. We also signed up to the PPA Action Net Zero Pathway.
  • 2023

We recognised that in order to reduce our emissions we first had to understand them. The first step was to research how our business activities affect climate and nature, then how to measure that impact, and so where we should focus first.
  • 2022

We began by researching how our business activities affect climate and nature, how to measure that impact, and where we should focus first.

We welcome conversations with suppliers, customers and partners who want to work with us on reducing emissions, reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable future. Please use the form below if you would like to get involved
